So I’m on time.com to vote for Laverne Cox on the 2014 TIME 100 and come across Steve McQueen’s entry… Apparently he’s ‘the first African-American director to win Best Picture at the Oscars’… Which seems pretty strange given that Steve McQueen is a London born BRIT!!
Either time.com can’t think of a politically correct way to say ‘Black’ or is verrrrrrrrry lazy in the research department… Or maybe I just missed the memo that all Black people in the world can now identify themselves as African-American…
I just tweeted them and they’d better change it cos that shit is offensive and frankly ridiculous!!!… And if you think i’m overreacting think how odd you’d find it if a white American celebrity like Lena Dunham was listed as Swedish!.. They wouldn’t make that mistake.
Steve McQueen is the first Black Director EVER to win Best Director at the Oscars and as such it is very important that this information is listed correctly!
